Angry Men
12 Angry Men was released in 1957 and was based on the play of the same name by Reginald Rose. It is considered one of the best courtroom dramas ever and stars Henry Fonda, Lee J. Cobb, Ed Begely, E.G. Marshall and Jack Warden in an all star cast. It was highly acclaimed by critics and was nominated for many awards, including four Academy Awards and four Golden Globes, although it didn’t win any of these.
The plot revolves around a jury that has heard the case of an 18 year old accused of stabbing and killing his father. There is ample evidence to convict and the film focuses on the drama of the jury deliberating his fate. While it seems like it is an easy decision to convict, it is actually more complex. At first, all jurors vote to convict except one hold out, who believes the jury should have more discussion before deciding. The discussion that ensues gets very heated and almost results in a physical altercation. Over time, each of the jurors is convinced to vote “not guilty” with the final vote coming from a reluctant juror, who ultimately admits to his personal reasons for wanting to convict.
Upon its release, the film received great critical reviews but was not so successful at the box office. It did better internationally and ultimately received great reception in the US when it started airing on television. It is considered a classic film and ranks on several lists of top films.

The AvengersThe Avengers are the superheroes who exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) based on the Marvel comics. The Marvel comics were originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the early 1960’s. The Avengers team was formed by Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The initial concept was formed during the closing credits of the first Iron Man movie released in 2008. The first film in the series, The Avengers, was released in 2012, followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War and concluded with Avengers: Endgame released in 2019. The franchise is the 6th highest grossing of all time. Future planned releases include: Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The Avengers team consists of many superheroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange and a few other minor characters. Each of the characters has been featured in their own series of films, all inter-related to the MCU. All the Avengers films received mostly positive critical reviews, and strong box-office success with a total estimated gross of almost $8 billion. The first few films in the series focus on a series of conflicts both externally and within The Avengers team. The last two films revolve around their battle with Thanos who is trying to gather all of the Infinity stones in order to eliminate half the population in the Universe and ultimately ends with the disbanding of The Avengers team.
