Khaby Lame
Khabane "Khaby" Lame, born March 9, 2000, in Dakar, Senegal, is a global internet star who came from working in a factory to become TikTok's most-followed content creator. He is popular for his unique, wordless sense of humor that transcends languages and cultures. Lame's rise to stardom started in 2020 when he was laid off from his factory work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He initially posted videos on TikTok, but his road to stardom came from his own trademark: a "duet" video where he would silently ridicule excessively complicated "life hacks" by simply showing the apparent, simpler solution. His deadpan face and a mere hand gesture were his trademark, making his humor universally appealing. In recent years, Khaby Lame has converted his virality into mainstream success. He has landed huge endorsement contracts with global brands, including Hugo Boss, and has appeared on lists like Fortune's "40 Under 40" and Forbes' "30 Under 30." He has also ventured into other endeavors, serving as a judge on the television program Italia's Got Talent and landing a cameo for video game Fortnite. In July 2025, he was featured in the inaugural TIME100 Creators list, recognizing the world's most influential digital creators. Khaby Lame's legacy is defined by his ability to touch millions through the language that everybody can understand—humor. His journey from being unemployed to an international icon is a testament to how simplicity and genuineness can make a recipe for historic success in the online world.
