He has won four Grammy awards, several MTV awards, six American Music plus other accolades. He began by releasing his music on YouTube and was signed to a record label in 2012. His first album, Kiss Land, debut at #2 on the US charts. He followed this by writing some music soundtracks, earning him a Grammy Award and Oscar nomination. His next release, Beauty Behind The Madness, reached #1 in the US and featured chart topping songs “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills” and won a Grammy award along with being nominated for Album of The Year. Subsequent album releases explored different musical styles and also received great success.

He was the first artist to simultaneously debut three songs on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart and holds the record for the longest charting song with “Blinding Lights”. He was named as one of Time magazine’s most influential people of 2020. In 2021, he headlined the Super Bowl halftime show, being the first Canadian artist to do so. It was rumored that he spent $7 million of his own money for the show, which received mixed reviews. It did result in a surge of downloads of his song and received 3 Emmy award nominations.
