Fortnite
Fortnite is a super popular online video game released in 2017. There are three different game modes: Fortnite: Save The World, which is a tower-defense and survival game played in teams of 4; Fortnite Battle Royale in which 100 players fight for the last person standing; and Fortnite Creative where players can create battle arenas and worlds. From the beginning it was a phenomenon, drawing in 125 million players in less than a year.  Through 2020, it has generated $9 billion in sales.  Each version of the game has its own set of rules and objectives.  Battle Royale and Creative are both free to play, while Save The World has a fee.  It has won many awards over the years from gaming sites and media.  It has been criticized for its violence and inappropriateness for kids and has been the subject of several controversies.  There have been several hated updates, such as the addition of Mechs and planes.  The makers of the game have been sued for copyright infringement for some of its characters and elements. There have been cases of accounts being hacked which the developers were slow to respond to.  It continues to be popular: as of 2020, there are 80.4 million monthly users with up to 4 million concurrent players.
Call Of Duty
Call of Duty is an older and highly successful first-person shooter video game series published by Activision that is known for its realistic warfare and fast-paced action. First launched in 2003, the series started with historical settings like World War II before also transitioning to modern, Cold War, and even future warfare. The game generally involves fast shooting, both in exciting single-player story modes as well as competitive multiplayer matches. The series has sold over 500 million copies and generated $30 billion in revenue as of 2022, making it one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time. New achievements and innovations continue to put the franchise at the forefront of gaming. In 2024, on October 25, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released, with new features including omnidirectional movement, allowing players to run and dive in any direction. This title has been a top seller in late 2024 and early 2025, receiving award nominations for titles like Best Audio Design and Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards. The franchise also consistently engages in crossovers; one such example would be Call of Duty Mobile announcing a partnership with Gundam in mid-2025, bringing classic mechs into the mobile game. The series remains popular with ongoing updates, seasonal content, and a strong esports footprint, including the Call of Duty League, where OpTic Texas just became back-to-back world champions in June 2025.
