Jeff BezosJeff Bezos is an American businessman and entrepreneur. Jeff Bezos was born on January 12th, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bezos was valedictorian in high school. He founded his first business called the Dream Institute in highschool, which was an educational camp held in the summer for grades 4th to 6th. Bezos studied electrical engineering and computer science at Princeton University, and worked on Wall Street after he graduated college in 1986.
When working on Wall Street in 1990, Bezos became the youngest senior vice president of D.E. Shaw. He quit the investment firm in 1994, so he could move to Seattle. This is where he founded and opened Amazon.com in 1995, a store originally created as an online bookstore used first by friends. Amazon was open to the public in 1997. In 1998, Amazon expanded in products it offered, including clothes, electronics, and more. In 2000, Bezos created an aerospace company called Blue Origin, where they develop affordable technology for space travel. In September of 2018, Amazon was analyzed to be worth more than 1 trillion dollars.
In 2016, Bezos had a cameo in Star Trek Beyond, playing an alien. In 2013, Jeff Bezos purchased Whole Foods for 13.7 billion dollars in cash through Amazon. On August 5th, 2013, Bezos bought The Washington Post for 250 million dollars. In February of 2021, Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon. In 1993, Bezos married MacKenzie Tuttle. He and his brother later used this money from the sale to start another company, X.com, which later evolved into PayPal. They then sold this company to eBay for 1.5 billion in stock in October of 2002. Musk founded SpaceX in 2002, and the company became popular with NASA in 2008. May 22nd, 2012, Musk made history with his company SpaceX when they launched their rocket, Falcon 9 (unmanned), in space to the International SpaceStation.
