Joe BidenJoseph Robinette Biden Jr., born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is a central figure in U.S. politics whose career has spanned over five decades. His ascension from a young senator to the 46th President of the United States shows his long-standing commitment to public service. Biden began his political life in 1972 when, at 29 years old, he was elected to the U.S. Senate from Delaware, a seat he would hold for 36 years. Along the way, he became a key presence on both domestic and foreign policy, including serving as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee. His work on the 1994 Crime Bill and the Violence Against Women Act cemented his reputation at the time as a legislative powerhouse. He served as the 47th Vice President of America under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017 and was at the center of the administration's key achievements, such as the economic recovery and the passage of the Affordable Care Act. In 2020, Biden secured the presidency, becoming the oldest person to be sworn into office. As president, he oversaw some legislative achievements including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act. These were aimed at reequipping American infrastructure, manufacturing, and combating climate change. Biden also appointed the first Black woman to the US Supreme Court, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. After declaring he would not seek re-election in 2024, Joe Biden ended his presidency on January 20, 2025, leaving behind decades of public service and an agenda of restoring American global leadership and inward investment.
Donald TrumpDonald Trump was the 45th President of the United States, but is also well known as a businessman and TV personality. His career started when he graduated from the Wharton School of Business and became president of his father’s real estate company. Trump expanded the family business to include buying and renovating skyscrapers, primarily in New York City, casinos and golf courses. He had many side ventures, primarily by licensing his name to products such as steaks, cologne and bottled water. Throughout his business career, he has had many ups and downs, including 6 bankruptcies and involvement in countless lawsuits and federal/state legal actions. His has written several bestselling books on his business success. He also appeared on several seasons of the successful TV show, The Apprentice. He is most well known for being the U.S. President from 2017-2021. His presidency was characterized by much polarization with vocal supporters and non-supporters. During his presidency, he was impeached twice and he was acquitted in both trials. Trump remains active in politics and provided over 200 endorsements since he left office.
