Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio is an Academy Award-winning American-born actor, producer, and environmental activist. Born in Los Angeles, California, in 1974, he began his professional career as an actor in early 1990s. His first significant film role was the 1993 drama This Boy's Life, with Robert De Niro. In the same year, at age 19, he received his first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor as a developmentally challenged boy in What's Eating Gilbert Grape? He continued to appear in such other notable movies as The Basketball Diaries and Romeo + Juliet.

In 1997, DiCaprio became an international superstar when he was cast in the film Titanic, which became the then highest-grossing film with over $2.1 billion worldwide. The popularity worldwide by young people generated a phenomenon referred to as "Leo-mania."

Throughout his career, he has been nominated for a string of Academy Awards. He took home his first Best Actor Oscar for The Revenant in 2016. Other legendary film performances include playing the role of Howard Hughes in The Aviator; playing roles alongside director Martin Scorsese in The Departed, Shutter Island, and The Wolf of Wall Street; and playing roles in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

DiCaprio has continued with his hectic schedule. He starred in the 2021 satirical film Don't Look Up, which got him nominated for a Golden Globe, and collaborated once more with Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro in the 2023 film Killers of the Flower Moon. His acting in the latter got him nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.

Beyond his acting and producing, DiCaprio is one of the most well-known celebrity advocates for climate change. He has given millions to a number of environmental causes and, in 1998, founded the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, later becoming a part of the organization Re:wild. In 2014, he was appointed a United Nations Messenger of Peace with a focus on climate change. He has also written and narrated some documentaries, such as The 11th Hour and Before the Flood, to make people aware of environmental matters.

Sir Daniel Day-Lewis is an award winning actor, best known for his film roles. Born in London in 1957, he has won numerous awards and nominations. LIke many actors, he began his career on the stages of London, and relied on the “method acting” technique of complete focus and intent on the character. His film career began in earnest in the 1980’s, including roles in movies such as The Bounty, My Beautiful Laundrette, and The Unbearable Lightness of Being. In 1989, he starred in My Left Foot, earning him an Academy Award and British Academy Film Award for Best Actor. His portrayal of a disabled man who can only use his left foot was hailed as a masterful achievement.

He retired from acting for several years in 1997, after starring in The Boxer. In 2000, he picked up his career again starring in Gangs of New York, directed by Martin Scorcese and co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio. His role as the evil gang leader William “Bill The Butcher” Cutting earned him multiple award nominations. He picked up his second Academy Award for his portrayal of an oil baron in the 2007 film There Will Be Blood. This was followed by his starring role in Lincoln, directed by Steven Speilberg, for which he earned his third Academy Award for best actor. He is the only actor to have won 3 awards in that category. He has also won 2 Golden Globe awards, 3 Screen Actors Guild awards and 4 British Film Academy awards. He became a “sir” in 2014 after receiving knighthood for his service to drama.
