It has won many awards over the years from gaming sites and media. It has been criticized for its violence and inappropriateness for kids and has been the subject of several controversies. There have been several hated updates, such as the addition of Mechs and planes. The makers of the game have been sued for copyright infringement for some of its characters and elements. There have been cases of accounts being hacked which the developers were slow to respond to. It continues to be popular: as of 2020, there are 80.4 million monthly users with up to 4 million concurrent players.
