Pac-ManPac-Man is one of the original and most successful arcade games. Released in 1980, it has generated $14 billion as of 2016. It’s an action game, in which the Pac-Man character is chased around a maze with the goal to eat all the dots in the maze. A level is complete when all the dots are eaten. At the same time, the player must avoid being killed by 4 ghosts that chase him: Blinky (red), Pinky (pink), Inky (cyan), and Clyde (orange). If Pac-Man is caught by one of the ghosts, the player loses a life and starts the level over.
The game is over when there are no more lives. Throughout the maze are power pellets that, when eaten, cause the ghosts to turn blue and run away from Pac-Man. If Pac-Man eats a blue ghost, it will transport to the center of the maze and eventually return to normal and pursue Pac-Man. Once enough dots are eaten, a bonus point fruit will appear which Pac-Man can eat. On the left and right side of the maze is a transporter tunnel that allows Pac-Man or the ghosts to go to the other side of the maze. It has spurned several spin-off games, like Ms. Pac Man plus merchandise, films and songs.
