Both these bands hit it big and continue to be fan favorites and fill stadiums with their concerts. Their music is very different styles. Foo Fighters is more traditional rock music, with aggressive, loud instruments and singing, while the Chili Peppers mix in funk with their rock sound. Which band would you rather listen to?

The Red Hot Chili Peppers formed in 1983 in Los Angeles, CA. The current members are Anthony Kides (vocals), Flea (bass), Chad Smith (drummer) and John Frusciante (guitar). They are widely considered the most successful alt-rock band, with the most #1 singles at 14 and most top 10 songs at 25. Their music incorporates several rock genres including alternative, funk, punk and psychedelic.
Their first big commercial success came with the album Blood Sugar Sex Magik released in 1991. It features the song “Give It Away”, which is one of their most successful and well known songs and won a Grammy in 1992. It was a #1 single on the charts along with “Under The Bridge” which reached #2. The album sold over 12 million units and reached #3 on the charts. In 1993, the band was joined by Dave Navarro on guitar and released the single “Soul To Squeeze” which reached #1. Following their next album and tour, Navarro left the band following allegations of drug use during band practice. In 1999, they released Californication which sold over 16 million copies. It features three #1 singles: “Scar Tissue”, “Otherside” and “Californication”.
In 2002, they released By The Way supported by an 18 month world tour. In 2004, they set a record with ticket sales of over $171 million for a three night stand in Hyde Park, making it the #1 tour of that year. The band continues to be active with new album releases and extensive tours. They’ve won 6 Grammys and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Grohl wanted to remain anonymous and recorded the debut album Foo Fighters by himself, playing all instruments and parts. The album features popular singles such as “Big Me” and “This is a Call”. He subsequently recruited other members to officially join the band and tour.
They recorded their second album in 1996, The Colour and the Shape, and also recruited drummer Taylor Hawkins, who would become a significant contributor to the band. The album included several popular singles including “Everlong” and “Monkey Wrench”. In 1999, they released There is Nothing Left to Lose with their first chart hit “Learn to Fly”, along with “Breakout”. Their tours grew bigger over the years and they are known as an arena and stadium rock band. In 2015 while on tour, Grohl fell off the stage and broke his leg. The tour continued, rebranded The Broken Leg Tour, with Grohl performing on a custom made moveable throne.
