She was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1971 Her career began in 1985, starring in the TV show 227 which ran until 1990. This was followed by several roles including in the film Friday, the animated series The Boondocks and the TV series Southland. King. She subsequently starred in the TV anthology show American Crime, earning her two Primetime Emmy awards.
In 2018, she starred in the Netflix miniseries Seven Seconds, earning her a third Emmy. That same year, she won an Academy award for her performance in the film If Beale Street Could Talk. From 2014 to 2017, Johannson was married to journalist Romain Dauriac. In 2020, Johannson married comedian Colin Jost, and is still currently married to him. Johnannson has two children. She has an 8 year old daughter shared with ex-husband Romain Dauriac, and a 1 year old son shared with her current husband Colin Jost.
