The series follows the journey of a guy named Ted Lasso, who is an American college football coach, who gets hired to coach an English soccer team with no experience in that sport. Lasso was hired with the expectation of failure, but his optimism and leadership helped him excel in the new sport. The first season was released on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020 with a three episode premier, with weekly installments coming after to encapture a ten episode season. Season two was then released on July 2323, 2021 with twelve episodes. The series was renewed for a third season which will be released in mid 2023. Ted Lasso has been continuously praised for its humor, writing, tones, and uplifting spirit. The series first season was nominated for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, making it the most nominated first series in Emmy Awards history. The series also won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Sudeikis also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series .
