DavisViola Davis is an American born actress and producer. Her awards include an Academy Award, an Emmy and 2 Tonys, making her the first African-American to win the “Triple Crown of Acting”. Her Davis received her fourth Oscar nomination for her role in the 2020 film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. The NY Times has ranked her as the 9th greatest actor of the 21st Century and she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2020. Time named her one of the most 100 influential people in the world in both 2012 and 2017.
Davis is the co-founder of production company JuVee Productions and in 2019 she became a L’Oreal Paris ambassador. career started on the stage and with minor TV roles; her breakthrough role was in the 2001 Broadway production of August Wilson’s King Hedley II for which she won the Tony award for Best Actress. In 2008, she earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as a troubled mother in the film Doubt. She then took home a Tony award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Rose Maxson in the Broadway show Fences. She garnered her second Academy Award nomination for the film The Help in 2011.
