Street Fighter
Street Fighter is a popular video game that was launched as an arcade game in 1987 by Capcom.  In all, there were 4 arcade versions released.  It is credited with creating future gaming conventions like 6 button controls and special moves created by combinations.

The gameplay revolves around 1-1 matches in which the player fights a computer controlled opponent or another human player.  The matches consist of 3 rounds. The character with the greatest amount of energy wins a round, unless there is a knockout.  To move on, players must win their matches by winning 2 of the 3 rounds.  Players can use special attacks and moves using combinations of the joystick and buttons, the first game to have this capability.   It has since become an important gaming convention used in many video games.

Interestingly, the first version of the game did not include instructions for how to access the combination moves. A big part of the game’s appeal was trying to discover new move and attack combinations.  There were several sequels released in arcades and the first home port was released in 1988 followed by ports for home computers.
Legend of Zelda
Legend of Zelda was originally released in 1986 and has since been expanded to 19 releases over the years.  It is one of the most enduring and popular franchises ever.  Some of the releases are considered among the greatest video games of all time.  It has mostly been developed by Nintiendo, although some releases were developed by other companies.  It is an the action adventure RPG genre.

The series is built around the adventures of its main characters, Link, Princess Zelda and Ganon, the main enemy.  Throughout the series, there are various incarnations of the characters with some traits and features that are standard. The gameplay is a mix of exploration, puzzles, action and adventures/battles.  In the game, the Health Points of the player are represented by hearts which can be depleted in battles and increased by finding “Heart Containers” or defeating boss enemies.

Music plays an important part in the gameplay, often triggering events through Link’s playing of his ocarina/flute. The timeline of events in the series has been frequently debated, but the release of a collector’s book called Hyrulie Historia revealed the official sequence of events and connection between the various titles.
