Super MarioMario is the most famous video game character in history, originally appearing in the Donkey Kong arcade game. Super Mario is the central franchise in the entire Mario universe of games. Other sub-series in the Mario franchise include Mario Kart, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario vs. Donkey Kong and Paper Mario. Super Mario stands alone as the 5th best selling games ever, with more than 380 million copies sold. The original game, Super Mario Bros., was released in 1985 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and is considered one of the first 2D side-scrolling platform games.
Many of the most well known characters and features in the Mario world were introduced including Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Bowser, Princess Peach, Mushrooms, Mario’s brother Luigi, Toad and Yoshi. In 1996, the first 3D open world game in the series was introduced in conjunction with the launch of the Nintendo 64 console. Super Mario 64 is considered a landmark in 3D games. The Super Mario series was ranked #1 in 2006 by IGN and in the top 3 of many other lists. There are 19 titles in the series with new releases continuously being developed.

Street Fighter
Street Fighter is a popular video game that was launched as an arcade game in 1987 by Capcom. In all, there were 4 arcade versions released. It is credited with creating future gaming conventions like 6 button controls and special moves created by combinations.
The gameplay revolves around 1-1 matches in which the player fights a computer controlled opponent or another human player. The matches consist of 3 rounds. The character with the greatest amount of energy wins a round, unless there is a knockout. To move on, players must win their matches by winning 2 of the 3 rounds. Players can use special attacks and moves using combinations of the joystick and buttons, the first game to have this capability. It has since become an important gaming convention used in many video games.
Interestingly, the first version of the game did not include instructions for how to access the combination moves. A big part of the game’s appeal was trying to discover new move and attack combinations. There were several sequels released in arcades and the first home port was released in 1988 followed by ports for home computers.
