The BatmanThe Batman is an American Action/Adventure film released in 2022 and directed by Matt Reeves. The 2022 film is about the well known DC Comics character Batman. The film stars Robert Pattinson playing Bruce Wayne, or “Batman,” Paul Dano, Zoe Kravtiz, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, John Turturro, Andy Serkis, and Peter Sarsgaard. The film follows Batman’s two years of service within Gotham City uncovering corruption. His journey follows his pursuit of Riddler, played by Dano, a serial killer who targets the elites within Gotham City. The Batman was originally going to be directed and played by Ben Affleck, who quickly developed reservations towards the movie and backed out, allowing Reeves to take over. Reeves took the movie in more of an investigative direction and removed the connections to the DC Extended Universe. Film production began in the United Kingdom in January 2020, but was quickly halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Filming was able to come to a finish in Chicago in March 2021, just a few months before the original release date. The Batman was officially released in March of 2022 and was the seventh highest grossing film of 2022. There is already talk of a Batman shared universe, along with two sequels and two spin-off television series.
