Justice League
Justice League is a team of superheroes as part of the DC comics and films.  The characters typically operate independently, but form together when needed to defeat villains and threats.  They have appeared in a wide variety of comic books, animated TV series and major motion pictures.  The first appearance on-screen was Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice in which Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman appear together, along with cameos by The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg.  IN 2017, Justice League was released, directed by Zach Synder.  The film features an all-star cast including Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, and J. K. Simmons.  The film earned an estimated $675 million worldwide, which was a disappointment and generated an estimated $60 million loss for Warner films.  It’s considered a box-office bomb and received mixed critic’s reviews.

The film’s plot revolves around the villain Steppenwolf and his quest to retrieve the three Mother’s Boxes, which will allow him to destroy earth and reform it in the image of his lost homeland. The key characters include Batman, Lois Lane, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg.  The film was directed by Zach Synder, who was replaced by Josh Wheedon in post-production so Synder could deal with the death of his daughter.  It won one award, Golden Schmoes Awards for Biggest Disappointment.  In 2021, Synder released a director’s cut at a cost of more than $70 million.  It was released on HBO Max, but not in theaters, and the studio considers the original theatrical release the “official” version of the film.
