Titanic
Titanic was a worldwide phenomenon released in 1997. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as passengers on the ill fated ship, who fall in love despite their different social classes. The film uses both historical and fictional elements to tell the story of the sinking of the Titanic.

When it was made, it was the most expensive film ever, with a production cost of $200 million. It was the first film to gross over $1 billion and eventually realized a worldwide total of $2.2 billion, making it the second highest film ever. Titanic was written, directed and produced by James Cameron.

The story portrays the romance of Rose DeWitt Bukater (played by Winslet) and Jack Dawson (played by DiCaprio). Rose is from the upper class while Jack is a poor young artist, who wins a third-class ticket for the Titanic in a poker game. They quickly fall in love and in a famous scene, Jack, overlooking the front of the ship, proclaims “I’m king of the world!”. Soon after, the ship begins to sink after hitting an iceberg. The lovers fall into the freezing water and Jack helps Rose cling to a floating piece of wreckage while Jack succumbs to hypothermia.

The film was nominated for 14 Academy Awards, tying it for the most ever. It won 11 awards, also tied for the most ever, including Best Director and Best Picture. The soundtrack won four Grammys, was the best selling album of 1998 and is the best selling mostly orchestral soundtrack of all time. This film is ranked on several film institute lists, including the #6 epic on AFI’s top 10 list.
Legally Blonde
The film Legally Blonde became an instant classic when it came out in 2001 due to its mixture of comedy, romance, and inspiring story. It tells a story about Elle Woods, a beautiful and ambitious woman who decided to go to Harvard Law School to show everyone that she was much more than they thought. While studying there, she learns new things about herself, like her abilities to think logically and how confident she can be.

In order to succeed, Elle doesn't change anything about herself – instead, she proves that kindness and self-confidence can bring the same results as other values usually expected from people. Elle Woods became a character who will be remembered because of Reese Witherspoon's performance and her many witty quotes.
Over twenty years since its premiere, Legally Blonde keeps entertaining people with its comedy and positive attitude. The film left its mark on culture as it became famous not only because of its high box-office but also because of sequels, musical play, and many generations of fans who consider it an inspiration.
