Hanks
Tom Hanks is one of the most popular and recognizable film stars worldwide. He was born in 1956 in California. His films have grossed over $9.9 billion worldwide, which ranks him as the 4th highest earning actor. His big break came in 1980 when he was chosen to star in the TV sitcom Bosom Buddies.. His breakthrough film role was in the 1984 hit Splash, directed by Ron Howard and co-starring Darryl Hannah. In 1988, Hanks starred in Big, which established him as a major film star and earned him his first Academy Award nomination. He had a series of big hits in the 1990’s with films such as A League of Their Own and Philadelphia, which earned him his first Oscar for Best Actor.

Forrest Gump was released in 1994 and earned over $600 million worldwide and garnered Hanks his second Academy Award for Best Actor. He made his directorial debut in 1996 with the film That Thing You Do!, a minor hit. He teamed with Steven Speilberg, starring in the 1998 movie Saving Private Ryan, which earned him another nomination for Best Actor. After a few other hits, his next major role was in Cast Away, earning him both Golden Globe and Oscar nominations.

In the 2000’s, his major films included The Terminal, Charlie Wilson’s War, The Davinci Code, which grossed $750 Million, Toy Story and more. Hanks has received 6 Academy Award nominations, with 2 wins, a Tony nomination, 12 Emmy nominations, including 7 wins, a Kennedy Center Honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement award.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow was born in Los Angeles in 1972 and is the daughter of Hollywood stars, actress Blythe Danner and director Bruce Paltrow.  She is a successful actress, entrepreneur and author, making her mark for her role in the film “Shakespeare in Love” for which she won an Academy Award in 1998.  Some of her other well-known roles include the “Iron Man” films, “Seven”, “Sliding Doors”, “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “Contagion”.  She won an Emmy in 2011 for her guest appearance on the TV show “Glee”.  In 2004, after becoming a mother, Paltrow significantly slowed down her acting career, but she launched other ventures. She has seen success as the founder of her own company, Goop, which offers products for wellness and beauty.  It is a multi-million dollar company but has experienced some controversy.  The company paid a settlement for unsubstantiated claims about health benefits of one of its products and has been criticized for their products’ high costs.  Paltrow has also written several healthy living cook books.  She is also known for her philanthropy, supporting several causes that are important to her.
