Top Gun: MaverickTop Gun: Maverick is an American action/drama movie released in 2022, directed by Joseph Kosinski. The movie is the second movie following the original Top Gun film, which was released over 30 years before in 1986. Some returning cast members include Tom Cruise, Jennifer Conelly, and Val Kilmer. New roles were cast as well, featuring actors: Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman, Glen Powell, Ed Harris, and Jon Hamm. The film is about Pete "Maverick" Mitchell coming face to face with his past when he’s hired to train new pilots for a critical mission. One of the graduates is Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw who is the son of Nick "Goose" Bradshaw, his friend who died in the first Top Gun film. Filming for the movie began May of 2018, and wrapped April 2019 in Washington, California, and Maryland. The film premiered on April 28th, 2o22 at CinemaCon, but was released to theaters in the US on May 27th, 2022. The film reportedly won "Best Film" by the National Board of Review, and was nominated for 6 Academy Awards. The movie grossed about $1.489 billion globally, awarding it the "second highest grossing film of 2022."
The AvengersThe Avengers are the superheroes who exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) based on the Marvel comics. The Marvel comics were originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the early 1960’s. The Avengers team was formed by Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The initial concept was formed during the closing credits of the first Iron Man movie released in 2008. The first film in the series, The Avengers, was released in 2012, followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War and concluded with Avengers: Endgame released in 2019. The franchise is the 6th highest grossing of all time. Future planned releases include: Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The Avengers team consists of many superheroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange and a few other minor characters. Each of the characters has been featured in their own series of films, all inter-related to the MCU. All the Avengers films received mostly positive critical reviews, and strong box-office success with a total estimated gross of almost $8 billion. The first few films in the series focus on a series of conflicts both externally and within The Avengers team. The last two films revolve around their battle with Thanos who is trying to gather all of the Infinity stones in order to eliminate half the population in the Universe and ultimately ends with the disbanding of The Avengers team.
