Wednesday
Wednesday is a Nextflix Original American supernatural horror/comedy TV series released in 2022. The series is about the character Wednesday Addams, daughter to what is popularly known as the “Adams Family,” created by Charles Addams. The series was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Executive producers include Gail Berman, Steve Stark, Tim Burton, Jonathan Glickman, and many more. Cast members include actress Jenna Ortega as lead playing Wednesday, supported by castemates Hunter Doohan, Naomi J. Ogawa, Riki Lindhome, Emma Myers, Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Georgie Farmers, Christina Ricci, Moosa Mostafa, and Joy Sunday. The series follows the journey of Wednesday Addams, as she navigates through life and attends the boarding school where her parents attended, "Nevermore Academy". The series also depicts how Wednesday tries to control and hone her new psychic powers, which she utilizes to help to solve a murder mystery that is happening around her. Filming for the series took place between September of 2021 to March of 2022 in Romania. Shortly after being released, the show gained vast popularity, becoming the "second-most watched English-language Netflix series." The show went on to be nominated for two Golden Globe awards, and has been renewed for a second season.
Sopranos
The Sopranos is a television series that aired for 6 seasons starting in 1999 and was broadcast by HBO. It’s considered one of the greatest TV series ever and won many awards during its run. The storyline focuses on Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini, as the leader of a mob family out of New Jersey. It launched the careers of several of its stars and the cast includes Lorraine Bracco, Edie Falco and Michael Imperioli.
Conceived and written by David Chase, the premise of the show is the challenges and exploits of Soprano and his mob associates. With a unique twist on the standard gangster genre, Soprano is prone to periods of depression and panic attacks. Throughout the series, there are depictions of Tony’s therapy sessions with Dr. Melfi (played by Bracco). Tony’s wife Carmela (played by Falco) is complicated, as she enjoys the luxuries that his lifestyle brings, but is in denial about how he earns money. She tries to keep this secret from her two children Meadow and A.J. Other key characters include his older sister Janice (played by Aida Torturro), Christopher (played by Michael Imperioli), Uncle “Junior” (played by Dominic Chianese), his mother Livia (played by Nancy Marchand), Silvio (played by Steve Van Zandt) and Paulie (played by Tony Sirico).
Over the course of 86 episodes, the show was known for its frequent violent incidents and in-depth character development and complex interactions. The show won 21 Primetime Emmy awards and is considered groundbreaking and influential on future television series.
