World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is a MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) originally released in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment. It was based on the Warcraft series of console games. It was an instant huge success and quickly became the most popular MMORPG of all time. It peaked at 12 million subscribers in 2010 and has grossed over $9 billion in revenue.
The gameplay allows the player to create an avatar and explore the open game world and complete quests, as well as interact with NPCs (Non Player Characters) and other players. The game can be played solo or in teams to complete quests and engage in PVP (Player vs Player) combat. The goal is to progress your character and build up capabilities by earning experience points. Completing quests will reward players with experience points, items and in-game currency. Group quests often take place in dungeons, whereby the team can defeat enemies and achieve goals.
