Both of these songs appear on lists of the most annoying songs. They were both immensely popular almost 10 years apart from each other. “You’re Beautiful” features the very high pitched voice of James Blunt and often gets on people’s nerves.”Macarena” was a huge hit for about 1 year and could not be avoided, as it was overplayed on the radio and TV.
You're Beautiful“You’re Beautiful” is a hit song by English singer James Blunt. It reached #1 in several countries including the UK, United States and Canada. It’s his biggest hit in the U.S. with over 3 million copies sold. Rumors were that it was about his ex-girlfriend, but Blunt never confirmed or denied this. The accompanying music video received a lot of airplay. It features Blunt taking his shirt off in a cold snowy setting. The song received 3 Grammy nominations, but didn’t win any. Weird Al Yankovich parodied the song with his version called “You’re Pitiful”, but the record label refused to let it be released. Weird Al has made the song available for free on his website.
The song comes from Blunt’ first album, Back to Bedlam which also featured the single “Goodbye My Lover”. HIs second album All the Lost Souls sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide. His subsequent albums also achieved moderate success, with mixed critic reviews. He has successfully toured in support of each of his albums. Overall, he has received 5 Grammy nominations, and several MTV Video music awards. Blunt is married with two children and has received an honorary Doctorate of Music from the University of Bristol.
Macarena“Macarena” is a pop dance song by the group Los del Rio, who are Spanish. It was originally released in 1993, but received worldwide attention after a re-mix by The Bayside Boys was released in 1996 It inspired a dance craze and got ranked as the #1 One-Hit Wonder by VH1.
While the original song was sung in Spanish, the re-mix featured English lyrics as well. It spent 14 weeks as the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, making it one of the longest stays atop the charts. The corresponding dance made it a huge success. Video of attendees at the 1996 Democratic Convention went viral. and Al Gore made a reference to it in his Convention speech. The song sold over 11 million copies by 1997 making the band’s members wealthy. Even by 2003, they each made an estimated $250,000 in royalties off the song. The Dance consists of 11 steps which repeat themselves for the duration of the song. The music video for the song also got large airplay, and featured the two band members along with scantily dressed women. There were several covers of the song, some of which had moderate success, including one called “**** Macarena” by MC Rage.
